NVK Group Semi Final Re-arranged Game V Fillongley
Leethall, 13 June 2010 20:46
Exhall & Wixford CC Lost to Fillongley CC
5-4 in a bowl out as the game was washed out 2 overs into
Exhall's reply to Fillongley's 248 for 6.
Captain Hollands won the toss and asked Fillongley
to bat on a good looking track. Steve Keen opened up
with Yorkshire Bad Back Simmo opening from the Cow Field End
to keep an eye on Junior Simmo. Syd got an early
breakthrough having the opener caught at square leg by
Leethall and a good opening spell by the new bowlers was a
lot different from the previous week when they were smashed
to all parts at Exhall.
The fielding throughout was very good from Exhall,
Dave Mullett was carried off the field having pulled a
Fetlock out in the deep so Junior Simmo was summened to leave
his girlfriend in the Simmo Passion Wagen to
substitute. Gates then proceeded to gambole a few times
missing a straight forward catch blaming his Frank Gallagher
hair for being in the way! Despite taking 6 wickets
Fillongley finished with a strong total.
The pick of Exhall's bowlers were Syd Keen with 2-40
and Steve Kerby 2-61. Simmo Snr unluckily
finishing with 0-29. Good catches from Gwynn and Tom
Simpson helping the cause.
Black clouds arrived 10 overs from the completion of
the Fillongley innings and the rain held off until tea of
which it then proceeded to pour down. It did stop and
Exhall started their innings with Gwynn and Fetlock Mullett
opening up against Gardner Jnr and Daud Sayed where they were
4 for no wicket when the rain returned to wipe out the
game. After an hour of no improvement it meant the game
went to a bowl off which Hollands won the toss and decided to
go first!
